Tim Flannery at the National Theatre, London, March 2011
Tim Flannery promotes his new book, Here on Earth, at the National Theatre, Southbank, 10th March 2011. He was in conversation with the BBC's David Shukman. This event was part of a tie-in with the National Theatre’s Greenland play. Flannery, an Australian palaeontologist, who has had postings at Adelaide and Sydney, is now an environmentalist concerned with climate change. His new book emphasises the role of cooperation in evolution, such as the endosymbiosis and the Gaia hypothesis. Unlike James Lovelock and Peter Ward, Flannery is optimistic about our willingness and capacity to deal with greenhouse emissions.
